Over 115 million children worldwide do not attend school
One of the "Millennium Development Goals" is to achieve universal primary education by 2015. However, according to UNICEF, the world has more than 115 million children of age to attend primary school, unable to go to it, which are deprived of exercising their right to education.

The chances of people having access to education are defined in the future whether they can live the life they want, the tools acquired during the education are that will allow to express confidence in their personal relationships, community and at work.

Education is the most effective way to empower the rural population out of poverty and sub-Saharan Africa, with South Asia and Oceania are precisely the areas that have no real possibility of education and further away from the target proposed by United Nations.

The NGO sponsorship Intervida, in his headquarters of Mali, carried out a program called "Improving school performance" trying to increase the success of students in the first cycle of basic education in the area in which the organization works.

To achieve this objective, the NGO aims to reduce the number of students per classroom and get a ratio of 50 students per class.

Another objective of this project is to improve the facilities: Intervida will assist in the rehabilitation of infrastructure, improved hygienic conditions with the construction of latrines and the increased security of the school space by building a fence and improving the practice of physical education and sports. In addition, it will provide schools furniture, equipment and textbooks to improve the learning of children.

Intervida in Mali will finance the construction and equipment needed to accommodate 1,400 students this infusion of equipment will double the number of students in schools that collaborate in the project and optimize classroom space, since each desk will be occupied by two children.

Another point that seeks to influence Intervida to achieve their goal is to add to this initiative a program for strengthening the capacities of teachers. This new policy of continuous training is designed to improve the educational performance of students through improved knowledge of teachers. Through these tools 553 teachers have defined their training needs and will benefit from training on the curriculum, basic education, school law and professional ethics.

Intervida seeks to implement these tools who want to end with high illiteracy rates that exist in the African country where 76% of young people are illiterate, and half of school-age children are not enrolled in primary education as UNICEF data handled.
